Computer and Health Risk

A repetitive strain injury (RSI) is an injury or disorder of the muscles, nerved, tendons, ligaments, and joints.

Tendonitis is inflammation of a tendon due to repeated motion or stress on that tendon. While Carpet tunnel syndrome (CTS) is inflammation of the nerve that connects the forearm to the palm of the wrist. CTS occur when you use a computer for a long period of time, prolonged typing, prolonged mouse usage, or continual shifting between the mouse and the keyboard.

You can prevent these types of injuries by doing hands exercise.

• Spread fingers apart for several seconds while keeping wrists straight.

• Gently push back fingers and then thumb.

• Dangle arms loosely at sides and then shake arms and hands.

Disadvantages Of Using Computers.

Computers may increase greater complexity of life - everyone now has to learn a lot of skills even to use computers at a simple level. They also generate a lot of extra work such as answering emails, and producing high quality documents for all occasions .Some people think we are becoming deskilled - forgetting how to do simple things like mental arithmetic, and also the availability of so much knowledge doesn't necessarily mean that we, individually, know more.

Violation of Privacy, most of our life event is store in a computer somewhere such as in credit reports, taxes records, medical reports and so on. In many cases, where personal and confidential records were not properly protected, individual have found their privacy violated and identities stolen.

Public Safety, people around the world are using computers to share their photos, videos, and other personal information to the public. Some of these unsuspecting, innocent computer users have fallen victim to crimes committed by dangerous strangers. To protect yourself from these criminals, you should not share information that would aloe other to identify or locate you.

Impact on Labor Force, apart from many industries using electronic machine to produce product or work in many process of producing, human labor are replaced by computers.

Health Risk, using computers for a long period of time and improperly can lead to injuries or disorders of the hands, wrists, elbows, eyes, neck, and back. Another health risk called computer addiction which occurs when someone become obsessed with using the computer.

Impact on Environment, when computers are discarded in landfills, they release toxic materials and potentially dangerous of lead, mercury, and flame retardants which effect on global warming.

Avantages Of Using Computers.

The advantages are the most obvious, and to list them would take a long time; also it depends on what you're using them for. Overall, some of the key benefits are:

Storage, computers can store vast amounts of data so it make this data available for processing anytime it is needed and it can store data for future use, also all the knowledge ever recorded could be online and available to all; fast development of technology of all kinds. Whether you are an engineer, a biochemist, a clerk or a shop assistant, computers will lay some part in helping you develop systems and improve what you do.

Speed, many computers process billions or trillions of operations in a single second so when data, instructions, and information flow along electronic circuits in computers, they travel at incredibly speed.

Reliability, you can trust and rely on the electronic components in modem computers because they rarely break or fail.

Consistency, computers give the same input and process so it will produce the same results. A computing phrase which known as garbage in, garbage out point out that the accuracy of a computer’s output depend on the accuracy of the output.

Communications, most computers today can communicate with other computers, often wirelessly. Computers with this capability can share any of the four information processing cycle operation—input, process, output and storage—with another computer or a user.
